the son't is a form i devised due to my love/hate relationship with traditional sonnets. it is basically a HIGHLY truncated version of a sonnet with a few bits of silliness thrown in to lighten up the mood.
the rundown:
the lines are 5 syllables long, containing two and a half iambs (one of you guys out there can supply me with the right name for this, i am sure), literally cutting the length of a sonnet line in half.
there are only seven lines.
the rhyme scheme runs A/B/A/C/B/C/A, but the last words in lines one and seven must be the same word.
there must be at least ONE abbreviated or truncated word (feel free to go nuts, the more the merrier).
there must be at least one instance of enjambment.
there must be at least one instance of alliteration.
the first 2 to 4 lines must ask a question or pose a problem, with the remaining body providing an answer or solution and (if possible) colorful elaboration.
the template: numbers represent syllables per line, and letters represent rhyme scheme
(5)A
(5)B
(5)A
(5)C
(5)B
(5)C
(5)A
the example:
son't the first
why sweat a sonnet
with all of those iambs?
a son't is on it,
iconoclastic,
and really quite glam;
a fun, frenetic
bastardized sonnet!

FFF 12: form creation challengefirst of all, i want to apologize for my hit-n-miss-ness these past few months, but i think we all know how RL is
now:
i have been thinking for a while about what FFF's next challenge should be and i figgered i would make it a REAL challenge. instead of writing in a particular form, this time we will creating new forms of poetry. i know it may sound large minded, or even uppity, but it is actually great fun...at least for this poetry geek
i have devised several forms myself in the past few years; some are based on mathematics and/or the numerics in the hebrew language , some are variations and/or combinations of various eastern forms , and some are inspired by ideas and patters in classical western forms .
so here's how this challenge will work:
devise your own poetry form. find inspiration and ideas where you will, but make sure that there are definite rules. what you will submit to FFF is the TUTORIAL for your
